There are just things we can't control

I always find it interesting that people like to try and control things that outside their powers. I'll admit it, I am guilty of this as well. I try to get my students to think and not accept what I tell them at face value (ya know, to challenge ideas that are presented to them). I try to make light bend as I capture it. I try to get my family to accept that I'm not the same person that they think I was as a kid. I try to keep my cat from helping me type.

Why do we try and tame the forces that are outside our control? I think, in my case, it's because I have this urge to fix stuff, even when it either can't be fixed or isn't broken. I consider it a charming fault of mine. Heh.

I worry about people, and I worry what my friends think of me. Why? I have no idea. But, overall, I'm happy with who I am. I just have to remember, sometimes it makes no sense to try and change the things I can't control.

Peace.

Walter

Walter longed for the days when he could drink his Sarsaparilla at home. For now, he had to settle for western Dakota.

Out of all the pictures Crys and I found, this is one of my favorites. I can't find the one I thought was the best; but, one of these days, I might just stumble upon it.

I love making up stories to the pictures when one isn't known...

When she wasn't working at the brothel, Alice often sat around contemplating the works of Madam Curie.

So, I really don't know who this woman is, but, it's all fun. *grin*

The Missing Duck

The Missing Duck

Crystal and I use to go to rummage sales and swap meets. One time, we came across a box filled with old photos. This was one of our favorites, and this little story was on the back.

found on the back of the photo

Johnny's pet duck that
dissappeared (sic) a few weeks
ago. We think some one
had a duck dinner. In
a way we are glad it is
gone as it dirtiet (sic) up
Myra's front walk and a
$1.00 worth of food did not
last long. Of course J. B.
did feel very bad.

Please, don't bury me

Please, don't bury me

I was out taking pictures on Saturday night, and stopped at this little roadside cemetery north of one of the outlying communities near home. Lot's of great stones out there, and lots of interesting sight lines.

And, it's by a river with two bridges close to each other. YATZEE!

As I walked to the river, singing of course, "Take me to the river/wash me in the water," I noticed these two grave markers sticking up out of the water, and the some changed to John Prine's Please Don't Bury Me.

Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get "em" out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose

I have a weird sense of humor. *grin*
